-- Purpose --
We want this blog to document some of our favorite moments and experiences as we travel around the world over the years. This is partially for our benefit - so we make sure not to miss anything! But, it's also so we can keep in touch with our friends and family. We love to hear from you so let us know what you think!

Kilkenny to Killarney.

The four of us were treated to another tremendous day in Ireland.  We had a hearty breakfast at our hotel first thing this morning before crossing the river and taking a tour of Kilkenny Castle.  On the way, we met some Irish hurlers.

After touring the castle with our guide, Owen, and learning about its impressive lineage (and the Earl who haled from Oak Park, IL, we started our journey to Killarney.  Kevin drove us safely through Irish roundabouts until we made it to our audible stop - the Rock of Cashel - which came highly recommended by Simon’s colleague, David.  What a stop it was.  The complex was a beautiful and relatively well preserved castle-turned-church and we learned a great deal from our excellent guide, Susan, with OWP.

After visiting the Rock, we topped up on cheese and chocolates for our lunch and then quickly headed to Killarney National Park, where Jenna led us on a sunset hike to the Torc waterfall and far beyond.

We then drove into the beautiful, small city of Killarney, checked into our hotel, and then had a delicious dinner at Khao Asian Street Food before making our way to the Irish Whiskey Experience.  (Now all of the typos in this blog post make more sense, huh?). Our guide, Aidan, expertly took us through the history of Irish whiskey and we sampled five different whiskeys paired with four different chocolates.  Simon slowly learned how to drink whiskey without making a child’s bitter face.  Progress is slow, ladies and gentlemen.

Finally, we ended our night at two excellent pubs - Courtney’s and The Tatler, all the while trying as many new whiskeys as we could.

Kevin and Simon also found their rightful places at the bar.

Check back tomorrow as we make our way to the Cliffs of Moher and Galway! We hear there is great Craic to be had in Galway.
