Cusco Day 2

We had a restful end to our day yesterday after our last entry. We wandered around the city and checked in with our hiking guides, Llama Path.

Then we went back to the hotel for Logan's recommended Chicken soup at the hotel restaurant, Pirqa. Holy cow was it a perfect choice. We thought it was the perfect way to get protein and keep our stomachs happy as we acclimated to the altitude.

Then we relaxed a bit - went to the hot tub and walked around the hotel.

After a while we went out to a phenomenal dinner at Morena and enjoyed fantastic Peruvian beef and really good Peruvian-Asian fusion. We finished our night out wth a walk around the center of town.

Today, we had a great breakfast included with our hotel and then hustled over to make to a really informative three hour walking tour.

On the tour we saw the massive San Pedro Market and also learned about the history of the region and current local customs. We even had some sweet local fruits and made some new friends, too.

After the three hour tour as over, we kept exploring on our own. We visited Qorichanka, the ancient seat of the Incan government. It was absolutely massive and then it was built upon by the Spaniards.

The terrace also afforded us great views of Cusco.

Finally, Adam and I went back to the market to find him a statue. He succeeded with some quality bargaining and then I had previously found a jersey as well

Then, Erika and I visited the Cathedral - the second largest and oldest Church in the Americas. It was like no church we've ever seen before - everything was gilded but it was a remarkable fusion of Spanish and Incan culture. There were mirrors everywhere, and some remarkable reliefs and paintings blending the two cultures including a famous painting of the last supper with a chinchilla as the feast.

Now we are back at the hotel, picking or dinner spot (breakfast was so good and there was so much to see that we missed lunch entirely).

Check back soon!

Oh, and here's another Frank candid from Adam, and a team flight bonus.
