Firing up the old blog for the second Sterusky-Svirnovskiy hiking adventure.
Erika and I met Adam at O'Hare and then waited, and waited, and waited some more as our flight to Miami got further delayed. What began as a four hour layover turned into us running with our hiking packs through humid Miami to catch our flight to Lima at 1am.
We made the flight and met Frank at the gate and then flew a red eye into Lima. Didn't get the best night's sleep but we were fed a hearty dinner at 3am so we had that going for us.
We got into Lima and found that the only bag we had to check, Adam's, was left behind in Miami during our tight connection. This time in Lima it was Adam running to catch the rest of us to board the plane for Cuzco.
We enjoyed stunning views of the Andes mountains, and some hidden selfie mode shots surreptitiously taken by Adam.
Now we're in Cuzco and checked into our hotel in the center of the city. This is a stunning place and we are excited to explore. And we each have goals - Erika getting her Spanish back, Adam finding something for his shelf, Frank to stay hydrated (well, that's OUR goal for him), and Simon to be the anti-altitude sickness Guinea pig and to find an Cienciano jersey.
Oh, and to stay healthy and ready for our hike!
