-- Purpose --
We want this blog to document some of our favorite moments and experiences as we travel around the world over the years. This is partially for our benefit - so we make sure not to miss anything! But, it's also so we can keep in touch with our friends and family. We love to hear from you so let us know what you think!

Barcelona Day 3 - Sangrada Familia

Today Paul, Matt and I took a walking tour around Barcelona. Matt did some research over the past few days and took us around the northern half of the city. We started by going up to the Sangrada Familia. It was probably the most ridiculous and amazing sight I've seen. The enormous cathedral was the unfinished work of Antoni Gaudi, the famed and brilliant Spanish architect of the late 19th and early 20th century. The cathedral is unlike any other religious building I have seen and it's really only half completed. The project was started by Gaudi in 1882 and continued after his death in 1926. It's currently being funded by the Spanish government and is supposed to be finished around 2040. I really won't do it justice by describing it so I'll try, instead, to show it.
This is the rear facade of the Cathedral.
Unfortunately the internet here isn't letting me upload photos at a very quick rate...
Thus, I'll try to post more later.
After we got out of the Sangrada Familia and the underground Gaudi museum, we walked around more of Barcelona and saw several more of Gaudi's homes and projects around Barcelona and also the Barcelona Arc de Triomphe.
Now we're back at our hostel getting very sleepy.

Cheers!
-Simon
