Welcome - Read on and/or Keep in Touch!

-- Purpose --
We want this blog to document some of our favorite moments and experiences as we travel around the world over the years. This is partially for our benefit - so we make sure not to miss anything! But, it's also so we can keep in touch with our friends and family. We love to hear from you so let us know what you think!

Photos from Sevilla, Granada and The Alhambra

As promised, here are some snapshots (never staged, no, never) of our travels over the past few wifi-less days.

Sevilla:
It was apparently 45 celsius the day we arrived so in order to save their citizens from awful heatstroke and sunburns, Sevilla has sheets put over some parts of the alleyways to provide much needed shade.
The Central Square
The tram line that takes you right through the city.

The Alcazar - This was an old Moor Palace that was taken over by Spain in the late 15th century.
The Central Courtyard of the Alcazar
The Gardens
Someone fed this peacock a piece of bread that was clearly too big for its little beak but it kept bobbing its head and trying to eat it until it finally gave up and scoffed away in anger.
Speaking of being accosted by birds...we sat down a little later and then noticed that this duck was coming toward us. It waddled up a few stairs and kept coming towards us, quacking and trying to start a conversation. Naturally, Paul quacks back and after a few lines of dialogue between the two, Paul must've insulted the duck because it walked (not ran... ducks can't run) away quite briskly while Paul chased it, trying to get it to come back.
This one's for my dad, ЯH.
This one's for me. Unfortunately we didn't stay there.
Granada:
The lovely people in Granada also recognize it's 320 degrees outside so... the shademakers are out in force.
Because the people at the "information" desk in the Granada train station are anti-social, they offered us no help in getting to Granada. The [expletive deleted] literally refused to point out the train station's location on the map that they give out at the desk. Still, we were lucky to find a very kind old couple who provided us detailed directions.
What you don't see in this photo is the reason Matt and Paul don't want to be photographed. The hike up to Alhambra was up a ridiculously steep hill. I'm talking a cars better have a good transmission gradient.
 The Alhambra:
Just inside the gates at the Alhambra... one of the 7 wonders of the modern world? The monument, not the gates.
The Sierra Nevada Mountains in Spain are visible pretty clearly from Alhambra. Note it was over 100 degrees at this point. Seeing snow while feeling 100 degrees is really weird.
The views down on Granada from the Alhambra.
Every wall and doorway is carved with unparalleled detail.
The main castle with Granada in the background.
View of the Alcazab - the defensive fortress of the complex.
View of the more modern side of Granada from the Alcazab.
The fountains in the smaller palace. "Smaller palace" is my new favorite oxymoron.
Just lampin'.
This was a very important discovery. We miss you Mr. Jefferson!
