Welcome - Read on and/or Keep in Touch!

-- Purpose --
We want this blog to document some of our favorite moments and experiences as we travel around the world over the years. This is partially for our benefit - so we make sure not to miss anything! But, it's also so we can keep in touch with our friends and family. We love to hear from you so let us know what you think!

Madrid Day 1

After finally getting a good night's sleep for the first time in a few nights, Matt, Paul and I woke up around ten and packed our things to leave our hostel at 11. We took a cab to the train station and then took our 2:45 minute train to Madrid. On the way, we watched an American movie called "Everybody's Fine" that I'd never heard of before starring Robert De Niro, Drew Barrymore and Kate Beckinsale. It started out fairly lighthearted but became very serious and was really quite good. It made all of us homesick after it was over.
When we got to Madrid we took the metro a short way to our Puerto del Sol before finding our hostel nearby. We checked in to our "Superior Private Triple" and yes, it is awesome. The lady at the desk spent more time telling us about how lucky we were to find the room at such a great price ($21 a night per person) than about the room itself but, indeed, I was lucky when I booked it to get it at a deal.
We threw our stuff in the room and then, seeing as it's a 320 degrees outside, we took a much needed siesta. After lazily waking up, we walked to the grocery store to get some dinner.
Now we're relaxing in our rooms and planning our tour of Madrid over the coming days.

Check back soon!
