Welcome - Read on and/or Keep in Touch!

-- Purpose --
We want this blog to document some of our favorite moments and experiences as we travel around the world over the years. This is partially for our benefit - so we make sure not to miss anything! But, it's also so we can keep in touch with our friends and family. We love to hear from you so let us know what you think!

And we’re off!

As you can see, this is not Africa.

After a short delay to our departure, we took off on our first flight leg from Cincinnati CVG to New York LaGuardia.  We had a rather unceremonious welcome to the perpetually-under-construction LaGuardia, getting off the plane and then going up an unkept set of emergency exit stairs.  Technically we are now in The Big Apple on a very long layover (trust us, it was a lot cheaper this way) but were very lucky to stay the night at Vlad Lukashevsky’s Manhattan apartment (thank you, Vlad!!)

Once we got to Vlad’s and dropped off our bags we went down to see the 9/11 Memorial.  Though we couldn’t get too close to the pools because they were cordoned off for the night, the site was peaceful and jarring all at the same time, as the last time I was there 20 years ago my parents and I ascended to the rooftop observatory in one of the twin towers.

We wandered for a bit longer and then went back to Vlad’s to eat a couple of his cherry chocolates (not sorry) and get a good night’s sleep before our long haul flights.  Now, we’re packing our bags again and heading off to the airport.  Check back soon for our next update!
